I am telling you this story in the first person, but it is the story of three: my two daughters and me.
Our house, which is also yours, has a story that begins when we leave our country and with it our family, friends, work, memories and traditions.
We arrived here, to the United States, barely knowing the basics of the language. We had visited this country on some vacations and we had big dreams of a better future.
After a while, my daughters had to go to university. That separation was painful because we are like the three musketeers, three in one and we go everywhere together. That’s why we look for a way to meet again in the same place. This might seem strange in some cultures, but where we come from it is common to stay together forever. Our family is very close and is part of our culture. The girls worked in Washington DC and I worked in Florida, so we decided to search and find Our Home in DC.
It was not easy. We hired a Realtor who did a terrible job looking for our new home. Therefore, I decided to do the search on my own. I arrived in DC and had nowhere to live because my daughters weren’t allowed to share their apartment with me. So I found a basement to take refuge in hundreds of books and learn from them and thus obtain my license in the District of Columbia. I studied hard and passed the exam as a Realtor, then I began the house search process that took us three months, we presented more than 10 offers until the former owners of the house that is now our home finally accepted.
We were happy to have our home again, but we didn’t even have a bed, so everything you will see and enjoy has been the effort and work of three women trying to get ahead.
Establishing ourselves here was not easy, but we achieved it after years of discipline, work and faith.
Our house in DC is our temple, it is a place where we have once again felt the warmth of home, where we have cooked for friends and shared with family when they visit us. Now destiny marks other directions for my daughters and we must find a way to pay the loan, that is why we decided to share our home with other families.
We are waiting for you… Our home is your home in DC.
